Shelter Island residents are invited to a free sneak preview screening of Meryl Streep’s new film, “Florence Foster Jenkins,” at the Greenport Theater on Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m.
Hugh Grant co-stars in this biographic comedy drama about a New York heiress who dreams of becoming an opera singer. The film, directed by Academy Award nominee Stephen Frears, has received enthusiastic reviews in Great Britain, but doesn’t officially open in the U.S. until next month.
The screening is sponsored by Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty and will be preceded by a reception at the firm’s Greenport office at 5 p.m. with finger foods, wine and soft drinks served. Both the office and the theater are a short walk from the Shelter Island Ferry.
