Get ready to stroll along Love Lane and Pike Street in Mattituck this Saturday to enjoy local food, crafts and raffles at the 39th annual “Old Fashioned Street Fair” hosted by the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes the crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Mattituck — a beloved community tradition.

“We’re very fortunate that it’s so successful and taken on a life of it’s own,” chamber president Terry McShane said. “Our goal is to get the ‘Made in China’ stuff out and get more local artists, artisans and craftspeople in.”

This year, the fair has expanded to include new businesses on Pike Street.

“The fair used to hook around to the left where Pike and Love Lane intersect, but now it’s going both ways so it’s more centralized,” he said.

More than 130 vendors are expected to participate, McShane said, adding the majority of proceeds raised during the event will benefit the community.

Last year, four $1,000 scholarships were given to Mattituck High School seniors, he said.

“It’s going to be a nice day of perusing the streets,” McShane said.
