Hundreds of guests turned out for the second North Fork Crush event at Jamesport Vineyards Saturday.
Featuring nearly 20 Long Island wineries, the event was presented by New York Wine Events, which reported that attendance increased this year. The event was also a place for artisanal food companies from the East End, like Hamptons Chocolate Company and Peconic River Preserves to show off their food.
“This is really meant to be educational,” said Sam Kimball of New York Wine Events. “People come to our events, they want to learn about wine. They want to discover wine.”
He added that he hopes to make North Fork Crush a perennial event to expose guests to different types of wine and spirits from the North Fork and elsewhere in New York.
Mr. Kimball said it was great to see so many guests from New York City, Nassau County and neighboring states like New Jersey and Massachusetts attend this year’s event.
“If we’re doing a good job we’re bringing new faces, new people, new consumers into the awareness of this awesome region and the wine and winemakers who are here,” he said.
