Local musicians have until Sunday, June 26, to submit their applications for a chance to perform at this summer’s FOLD Festival in Riverhead.

East End Arts has launched the “Emerging Artists Project” to give local musicians a chance to perform on stage during the festival.

East End Arts executive director Pat Snyder said the project first came about following a conversation she had with FOLD producer Peter Herman.

“We recognized a shared mission of supporting emerging artists and saw how we could work together,” Snyder said about the project.

One solo artist and one band will be selected to perform a pair of songs each day of the festival, which runs from Friday to Sunday, Aug. 12-14, at Martha Clara Vineyards on Sound Avenue.

Nile Rodgers Productions is again producing the second annual festival, which debuted with a two-day concert last August. The Grammy-winning music producer and his band, Chic, will perform each night. The Saturday night headliners include Bette Midler and Earth, Wind & Fire. K.C. & the Sunshine Band and the Village People perform Sunday, among others.

“Nile Rodgers wants to reach out and support the East End community,” Snyder said. “East End Arts is all about supporting and providing opportunities for artists on the East End. Together we devised the Emerging Artist Project and created a three-way win.”

To apply, musicians are asked to submit a three-to-five-minute video of their performances. A committee of professional musicians will screen each submission.

Finalists will be notified by July 15 and the winners will be announced by Aug. 1. There is a submission fee of $30.
