The popular First Fridays is returning to Mattituck’s Love Lane from 6 to 9 p.m. this Friday.

Created last year, the four-date event is a collaborative effort by Love Lane merchants to attract tourists and locals to visit after hours, stay late and enjoy what the area has to offer.

“Everyone’s been so positive and so great at moving this forward,” said Robin Epperson-McCarthy, director of education at Roanoke Vineyards and one of the event organizers.

For three hours on Friday evening, Love Lane will close to traffic, allowing pedestrians to explore and sample the area. Restaurants and merchants will serve special bites and sips, while a band will perform live music.

“You’ll be able to walk up and down the street and enjoy $3 bites and $5 sips,” Epperson-McCarthy said.

Roanoke Vineyards will serve $3 oysters by Harvest Moon Shellfish and $5 sips of their new release, the 2015 Sauvignon Blanc. Chef Lia Fallon will also serve special bites, like homemade bacon.

Michael Affatato of the Village Cheese Shop will serve up trout roe blinis and dry rose’ from Provence. He will also host Peconic River Preserves‘ Melissa Sabbatino, who will be serving pastries.

Other participating merchants include Love Lane Kitchen and Lombardi’s Love Lane Market , plus this year First Fridays will extend around the corner to include eateries Good Food and Agora on Pike Street.

“It’ll literally be dancing in the street on Love Lane,” Epperson-McCarthy said. “How much better does it get than that?”

First Fridays will take place on the first Friday of every month this summer: June 3, July 1, August 5 and Sept. 2.
