Patricia Liantonio understands the importance of feeling good. A licensed amma therapist for nearly 30 years, she’s dedicated her life to helping others find relief from pain and stress.

This year, she expanded on that idea by offering products for outer well-being, mainly by transforming the front of her Southold business, Healing Hands Massage Therapy, into a clothing boutique.

“I wanted to give women the option to feel beautiful from the inside and outside,” she said, adding that the clothes are “casual, elegant and beautiful, but affordable.”

Liantonio, who said she’s loved fashion all her life, began looking into brands about a year ago and officially began displaying the clothes around the massage studio six months ago. She currently carries items that range in cost from $40 to $200.

The Southold resident said she sells strictly economically friendly, organic clothes from manufacturers that focus on giving back. She tries to buy from companies that make their products in the U.S., but admits that’s often difficult.

Her store now carries bohemian pieces, workout clothes, dresses, blouses and more from lines such as Union of Angels, Jala Yoga and Blue Sky.

Certified in massage therapy, Liantonio was a founding member of New York College of Health Professions in Syosset. There, students can learn about amma therapy, which she says focuses on a “multiplex of physical, emotional and biological aspects.” Students from the college often work with her as interns over the summer, turning her business into a teaching center as well, she said.

This is Liantonio’s third year at the location on Main Road in Southold. She previously had a massage therapy business off Main Street in Riverhead and before that a location in Port Washington.

Of the three, she said Southold is the best fit for her.

“Who wouldn’t love Southold?” she said. “I love the people … it’s peaceful and serene.”

That’s why she’s so happy to be diversifying there as the “premier North Fork boutique of its type for wellness and fashion,” noting that Southold, East Marion and Orient all lack similar clothing shops.

Since its inception, the boutique at Healing Hands has proven successful, she said, allowing her to expand her apparel and other offerings.

She has a delivery of Italian leather jackets coming in, as well as accessories like belts and bags. Additionally, Liantonio sells a line of organic teas called Rishi, plus diffusers, aromatherapy and more.

“I would have to say it’s really going great,” she said. “There’s a lot of new excitement around town that there’s a new boutique open.”

Healing Hands Massage Therapy is located at 53800 Main Road in Southold, (631) 407-5040.
