Mom-a-thon in Greenport Village

Take mom shopping in Greenport on Saturday, May 7 for the first-ever Mom-a-thon, a pre-Mother’s Day sidewalk sale full of food, fun and deals. The event is sponsored by the Greenport Business Improvement District.

Shops along Front and Main streets will participate and shoppers will register for a raffle when they make a purchase of $10 or more at a participating store. The raffle drawing will take place at 5 p.m., but participants do not have to be in attendance to win. If they can’t make it, they will be contacted via e-mail.

While streets will not close, merchants on Front Street and Main Street will set up tables on the sidewalks. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 in Greenport. For more information visit greenportvillage.com.

East End Garden Festival

Peconic Bay Medical Center hosts its annual East End Garden Festival at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead this weekend.

The four-day plant sale benefits Cancer Services Program which Peconic Bay Medical Center oversees in Suffolk County.

The festival is held Thursday, May 5, through Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will also be held on the Great Lawn in Westhampton Beach. For more information, call 631-548-6166 or visit pbmchealth.org.

 

Artists and Carafes

Paint a pair of wine glasses on Friday, May 6 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport.

Enjoy live music and light refreshments while you paint two stemless wine glasses. No experience necessary, there will also be a Chinese auction and a 50/50.

Admission is $40 in advance, $45 at the door, and includes two glasses. Proceeds benefit San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Plant and Bake sale

Shop for plants and baked goods on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Orient.

Shop for annual and perennial plants, hanging baskets and container gardens. Most plants are deer-resistant. (Rain or shine).

Herbal Workshop

Learn how to plant an herb garden on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to noon at Sang Lee Farms in Peconic.

Herbalist Heather Cusack will discuss growing tips, how to identify herbs, as well as culinary, medicinal and cosmetic uses. Learn how to create herbal infusions and teas and bring herbs home to start your own garden.

Master Class features legendary hitmaker Nile Rodgers

Hear Grammy-Winning composer, producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers discuss the music industry Saturday, May 7 at 3 p.m. at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead.

The event, which is sponsored by East End Arts, will be followed by a Q&A session.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

Treat mom to Mother’s Day breakfast on Sunday, May 8 at Polish Hall from 8 a.m. to noon in Riverhead.
