The march into spring continues on the North Fork as more restaurants, farms and farm stands open for the season. Here are some businesses that will reopen soon.

Schmitt’s Farm Country Fresh in Laurel will reopen on Sunday, May 1.

The Schmitt family has been farming on Long Island for over 150 years. The Laurel farm sells a large selection of bedding plants, hanging baskets and perennials out of its greenhouses, while the farm stand sells home-baked pies, locally made jams, preserves and condiments. Fresh local produce and flowers will be available going into the growing season.

Schmitt’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week

Schmitt’s Farm Country Fresh is located on Main Road in Laurel, across from the post office.

Country View Farm Stand in Southold will reopen on Friday, April 29.

This year Country View has expanded and will open a second farm stand in Peconic (located at the former site of Barb’s Veggies). While the Southold farm stand will sell mostly produce, the Peconic location will sell more flowers and hangings baskets, according to owner Kevin Polak.

Country View’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at both locations.

Country View Farm Stand is located on Main Road between Indian Neck Lane and Peconic Lane in Peconic and at 57995 Main Road in Southold.

Lavender By the Bay in East Marion will reopen on Saturday, April 30.

This 17-acre lavender farm is a stunning scene from mid June to mid July when the lavender is in full bloom. For a $5 fee you can wander through the rows of English and French lavender. Stop in their store for both fresh cut and dried lavender, as well as lavender honey, sachets and more.

The farm’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in May (Friday through Sunday). The farm will be open 7 days a week 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June to September. (The fields close at 4:30 p.m.)

Lavender By the Bay is located at 7540 Main Road in East Marion.

Orient By the Sea in Orient will reopen on Friday, April 29.

Family-owned and operated since 1979, this popular seafood restaurant will reopen for its 36th season this month. Restaurant hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday – Thursday), 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Friday – Sunday).

Orient By the Sea is located at 40200 Main Road in Orient.
