With the weather forecasted to stay consistently in the 50s next week and onward, it is time to embrace spring. Dare I say, we fared pretty darn well this winter. Certainly far better than the last two!

So, with “spring ahead” in mind, these are my surest signs that the best time of the year on the North Fork is near. There are some repeats on here from year’s past, but that’s just because they are oh, so good.

Croteaux Vineyards in Southold is open! Need I say more? This vineyard sells out of their rosé faster than a boat ride to Sag Harbor. That might be a slight exaggeration, but you get my drift. You must, you must (as I’ve written before) go. You truly feel as though you are in the French countryside when sitting in the back garden at this fabulous boutique vineyard.

Spring means live music is returning to the wineries and Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead always has the hippest happenings. It’s a fun atmosphere with great music. Click here for upcoming events.

And one of my favorite lunch spots, Wednesday’s Table in Southold, is open again after a nearly month-long close. YAY! Check out their menu here.

Soup’s on at Salamanders in Greenport again starting March 23. I dread when they close over the winter. I have no where to get my fried chicken fix. (Shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone!)

You know in order to feel spring, you need to be dressed for it.

Calypso St. Barth in Greenport is having a 50 percent off sale. They are opening Friday, March 25, just in time for Easter weekend! It’s the perfect time to channel spring and save while doing so.

And I of course have to mention Mint in Mattituck, which just got a huge shipment of spring and summer wear, so you will definitely want to go check them out. Find them on Love Lane.

Spring cleaning anyone? Whether you are buying or selling, Beall and Bell is your go-to furniture source. A longtime favorite of folks in the know, they truly have the best finds, from mid-century modern to English, French and American antiques, through to industrial pieces.

This is a stop you need to make. I guarantee you will leave with something you didn’t know you needed.

And please remember to “spring ahead” this weekend (Daylight Savings Time begins on March 13). Here’s a recipe for an “Extra Hour Cobbler” to help get you in the mood.

As much as we all dislike losing that precious hour, it really is one of the surest signs that spring is on the way!
