When you toasted with a glass of bubbly on New Year’s Eve, do you know if you were sipping a bready, nutty bottle of brut champagne or a lighter Italian prosecco?

Get to know your sparklers with the second class in Lieb Cellars’ Wine 101 series, which is titled “Bubbles.”

Join Wine and Spirit Education Trust certified sommelier Julia King at Lieb Cellars’ Bridge Lane tasting room in Mattituck later this month for a hands-on class exploring the champagnes, proseccos, cavas and sekts of the world.

The class will take place Saturday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Topics include the following: The origins of sparkling wine; the different production methods used in its creation (injected CO2, the traditional methode champenoise, etc.); and the basics of sparkling wines from around the world.

Five wines will be served during the class, as will cheese.

Tickets are $30 (or $25 for wine club and industry members).

A limited number of tickets are available. Click here to purchase tickets.
