Dreaming Buddha, the Greenport shop specializing in eclectic gifts from around the world, will soon relocate from its Front Street locale.

The store, which opened at 29 Front Street in 2012, will move about two miles west near the site of Clementine’s Home Furnishings on Jan. 1, according to owner Sean Seal.

Mr. Seal said he decided not to renew his lease due to the rising cost of rent in downtown Greenport and because the new location offers much more space.

The new store will be about the same square footage as the Front Street shop, but will have more room outdoors to display statuary, teak furniture and garden decor, he said.

“Everything you see I’ll have there. But I am going to focus on the outdoor space,” Mr. Seal said. “It’s ridiculous how much outdoor space I’m picking up.”

The clothing, jewelry, decor and accessories, much of which is purchased during the Seals’ international travels, will also be available in the new shop.

“Me and my wife travel overseas to bring back cool stuff back to the North Fork,” said Mr. Seal, adding that those travels include trips to China, India and Pakistan. “All of my stuff is imported from other countries.”

Expect steep discounts on inventory before the move, Mr. Seal said.

“Everything is going to be drastically reduced, save for anything under $12,” Mr. Seal said.

Mr. Seal, who along with his wife Eleanor owned the former Knotted Dreams rug store in the village, said the business will continue to offer rug cleaning and repair.

You can visit Dreaming Buddha at its new location at 68320 Main Road in Greenport next year.
