Channel your inner Beyonce or Justin Bieber for a chance to audition in front of talent scouts.

The Suffolk Theater is issuing an open call to area musicians, singers and rappers to perform in front of representatives from Atlantic and Def Jam Records on Friday, Nov. 20. This is your chance to get discovered, participate in a major label showcase and get feedback from music representatives.

“This is the first time that we’ve done anything like this,” said Suffolk Theater Director Daniel Binderman. “We’ve had a lot of people ask if we could do some sort of local talent showcase. [Combining] that with judges from major labels is a fun way to do that.”

Talent scouts from Atlantic Records and Def Jam, as well as producer Joe Milly, will be at the Suffolk Theater that day to judge the best up-and-coming talent from our area a la “American Idol.”

Participants could win a personal consultation with one of the judges, including Yaasiel “Success” Davis of Def Jam Records, Jason “Polo” Cabonell of Atlantic Records, and Milly — along with studio time with him and the opportunity to collaborate on a Joe Milly Production.

People who perform all genres of music are encouraged to compete. Only those ages 21 and up are eligible. Winners will be chosen based upon a combination of judges’ votes and audience applause. The event will be hosted by Will Stylz. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show will run from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Advance registration is required for all participants. There is a $25 registration fee, as well as a 10-ticket purchase minimum. Those tickets are $15 per person, so get your friends together and remember that the more friends you bring, the louder the applause. Participants must contact [email protected] to register in advance. A video performance, such as a Youtube or smartphone clip, is also required as part of the registration.
