Phil’s Restaurant in Wading River is expanding east to Aquebogue.

The owners of the Wading River Manor Road eatery have plans to open a second location in a waterfront building at the Aquebogue property that once held the Meeting House Creek Inn restaurant, according to social media and posted signage.

The new restaurant, which will be located at 177 Meeting House Creek Road, will be called “Phil’s Waterfront Bar and Grill.”

Restaurant owner Tom Drake quietly closed Meeting House Creek Inn in September. A call to the restaurant in early October revealed a recorded message from Drake in which he stated the eatery had shuttered, but would re-open next year as a new restaurant on Pulaski Street in Riverhead.

Property owner Alex Galasso of Lighthouse Yacht Club is currently expanding the second floor of the building for the new tenant, according to the Riverhead Town Planning Board.

Established in 1990, Phil’s Restaurant, located at 1856 Wading River Manor Road, is a family owned and operated restaurant and sports bar with an extensive menu, that also showcases live music. A message posted Oct. 1 on its Facebook page stated that construction had started at the new location, which is adjacent to the Lighthouse Marina.

Phil’s Waterfront Bar & Grill will likely offer outdoor dining with views of both Meeting House Creek and Lighthouse Marina, along with a brand new outdoor bar, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page. It will also have transient dockage available for customers arriving by boat. Phil’s plan to bring its original menu to the second location, along with some new items.

“We plan to bring all the things that you love about Phil’s Restaurant, most importantly our menu, our service, and implement them, among with some new things, in Phil’s Waterfront,” reads a post on Phil’s Facebook page. “For 25 years we have taken pride in the fact that we have become an important part of our community and will take those values with us to Phil’s Waterfront.”

A spring 2016 opening is scheduled for the new Aquebogue eatery, along with a brand new website. In the meantime, updates will be posted to the current Phil’s Restaurant Facebook page.

Neither Drake nor Phil’s owner Phil Marcario returned calls for this article.
