Get ready because two of hip hop’s greatest legends are coming to downtown Riverhead next month.
Rappers Funkmaster Flex and Lil’ Kim are scheduled to perform at the Suffolk Theater on Friday November 27.
Funkmaster Flex is the founding DJ of the first hip hop radio show on New York City’s Hot 97. His show is now syndicated nationally.
Three-time-platinum artist and producer Lil’ Kim’s many hits include “No Time”, “Crush on You”, “It’s all about the Benjamins” and “Money, Power, Respect.” Considered one of hip hop’s most influential artists, she was listed on VH1’s “100 Greatest Women in Music” list in 2012.
“We are very excited,” said Suffolk Theater Director Daniel Binderman. “We had Funkmaster Flex perform here a few months ago and it was a wonderful show. We don’t see enough hip hop out here and we’d like to do more.”
While details are still being ironed out, the two artists are scheduled to perform together and there is the possibility the concert could offer up a few surprises.
“There might be some possible surprise guests joining them, but I can’t announce yet,” said Mr. Binderman. “This fits in with the Suffolk Theater’s reputation for presenting great legends of music.”
