The Mattituck Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 38th annual “Old Fashioned Street Fair” on pretty-as-a-picture Love Lane on Saturday.
The highlight of the event was the crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Mattituck, a beloved community tradition.
Liam Springer, 6, of Mattituck and Katherin Meringer, also 6, of Cutchogue were the 2015 winners. Last year’s winners, Ryan Harned and Julie Bodenstein, both of Cutchogue, were on hand to present the awards.
When asked, Liam says he aspires to be a policeman or a SWAT team member, while his favorite animal is an octopus because “they can give eight high-fives at the same time,” he said.
Katherine says that she wants to be a space explorer when she grows up, and that her favorite animal is an orca, because she can “speak whale.”
