Despite the rain pouring down on the 2015 Strawberry Festival, visitors were all smiles underneath a tent where the crowning of the 2015 Strawberry Queen took place on Saturday afternoon.
Caroline Keil, 17, of Mattituck was chosen as this year’s queen while Jackie Davey, 17, of Southold was the runner-up.
Underneath the “strawberry shortcake tent” volunteers were hard at work providing for the hundreds of people taking refuge from the downpour. Many of the vendor booths as well as some amusement rides closed up to wait out the rain, which continued to fall all afternoon.
The festival continues Sunday.
