Peconic Bay Medical Center garden festival

The 20th annual East End Garden Festival to benefit Peconic Bay Medical Center kicks off tomorrow, May 7.

The event will take place Thursday through Saturday, May 7-9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead (1947 Old Country Road, Riverhead) , the PBMC Campus in Manorville (496 Route 111) and on the Great Lawn in Westhampton Beach (35 Main Street).

Expects thousands of annuals, perennials, shrubs, flats and hanging baskets for sale across the three locations.

“The weather is going to be beautiful tomorrow,” said Candace Porter, the hospital’s special events manager. “I promise you, this stuff is gorgeous.”

A garden festival raffle will also be held with prizes including a pair of Raleigh bicycles, a Weber gas grill, a 40-inch TV and a garden utility wagon. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and cannot be paid for with festival vouchers. The raffle drawing will be held May 15.

For information and to purchase vouchers or raffle tickets, call 631-548-6080 or visit pbmchealth.org.

Now in its 20th year, the annual event has raised a whooping $1.3 million for the hospital. Samantha Vigliotta, PBMC’s director of donor relations, told the Riverhead News-Review this year’s proceeds — which the hospital is hoping surpasses the old record of about $114,000 — will be earmarked for pediatrics and expansion of the hospital’s Project Fit America program, through which hospital and school officials work to foster a love of fitness at an early age.
