It’s probably the only first birthday party where the guest of honor sports a full beard and throws back pints of porter.

To celebrate their first year, Moustache Brewing Co. owners Lauri and Matt Spitz are taking the party beyond the walls of the Hallet Ave. tasting room this Saturday, April 18, to the Polonaise Park pavilion in Riverhead for a grand birthday party.

And you’re invited.

“We are really excited,” Lauri said Wednesday afternoon while taking a break from prepping kegs and souvenir glasses with her husband.

The party will feature six of Moustache’s favorite brews from the past year and a special appearance by Rally Beard IPA, its exclusive anniversary beer.

Food trucks including Eat Me, Drink Me; Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks and Blondie’s Bake Shop will be on hand to satisfy a hungry crowd.

Amid the festivities, Moustache co-owner Matt Spitz will shave his impressive beard with the help of Rockabilly Barbers.

The birthday marks a year of success for the brewery.

Not only did the couple open its first tasting room, but they have also nearly quadrupled their maximum output by adding two new seven-barrel fermentation tanks to their operation. Previously, Moustache fermented all of its beers in five one-barrel tanks.

And even more accomplishments are expected in year two.

Lauri said 2015 is the year the brewery will up its distribution game. The couple hopes to see their beers on tap in bars and restaurants, “especially ones on the North Fork,” by 2016, she said.

Admission to Saturday’s party, which goes from 1 to 7 p.m., is free.
