La Plage

Long Island Restaurant Week kicks off Sunday, April 26, at dozens of restaurants across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The $27.95 prix fixe deals run from Sunday, April 26, to Sunday, May 3 — except Saturday, when some restaurants offer the deal only until 7 p.m.

And although all the eateries are sure to please, if you are like most folks, you’ll only be able to make it out one or two nights during the week.

If we were only able to visit three East End spots for restaurant week, these would be our choices:

1. North Fork Table & Inn, Southold

As Long Island’s number one Zagat-rated restaurant is on the market, there’s no telling how many more times you will be able to eat at North Fork Table & Inn for Restaurant Week.

While the current Restaurant Week menu isn’t posted online, a sample menu from Hamptons Restaurant Week included entrées like slow-roasted rosemary brined pork loin and pan-roasted pastured chicken breast.

Make sure you book a reservation as they go fast (and we’ve already booked a table for two on Thursday night).

2. La Plage, Wading River

La Plage has long been a special occasion dining spot for us. With a secluded location and views of the Long Island Sound, it’s no wonder the New York Times once called it the most romantic restaurant on Long Island. And a prix-fixe menu is a great way to enjoy the experience without the full price tag.

The wine list is long and the cocktails are fun and tasty. A sample Restaurant Week menu posted online includes entrées like red wine braised beef short rib and hazelnut crusted mahi-mahi.

3. Rumba, Hampton Bays

If you need a Caribbean vacation but don’t have the time or resources to take one, a visit to Rumba might be in order. Great views, funky cocktails and a tropical island-like atmosphere make this place unlike any other on the East End.

Just the thought of the appetizers on the Restaurant Week menu, like duck empanadas and Dominican ribs, makes our mouth water. As for the entrées, we’re big fans of the ahi tuna salad and the soy and sugar can salmon. And their house-made key lime pie is the stuff dreams are made of. You’ll be happy here.
