That doesn’t have to be the case, though: We searched Groupon and found a number of great deals from Riverhead to Greenport at local wineries, restaurants, museums and more. 1.) For the foodie

Head to Riverhead and enjoy Bistro 72 executive chef James Junk’s tasty cuisine for up to 50 percent off. This Groupon is good for $25 off $50 worth of food, valid Sunday through Thursday, or $30 for $50 worth of food, valid any day of the week.

Not in the Riverhead area? Front Street Station in Greenport has a deal offering a variety of discounts, including $25 for $50 worth of dinner for two people or more.

2.) For the wine lover

You can’t go wrong with a $22 wine tasting experience for two at Osprey’s Dominion in Peconic. This deal includes two flights of five wines, one Boar’s Head cheese platter for two and two collector’s wine glasses. All told, that’s a value of $42.

Several other local wineries also have great deals: You can get up to 59% off a chocolate and wine tasting at Clovis Point in Jamesport, get a wine tasting and cheese platter for almost half off at Jason’s Vineyard in Jamesport, or save nearly $50 on a wine tasting 101 experience at Sannino Bella Vita Vineyard in Peconic.

3.) For the 5K addict
