Browder’s Birds co-owner Holly Browder was presented with the first-ever “Person of the Year” award from northforker.com at a reception on March 12, 2015.

Browder was honored at Times Review Media Group’s annual “People of the Year” award celebration, held for the first time at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead.

We honored Browder for her efforts in launching the year-round Riverhead Farmers Market and her contributions to local food producers.

Accepting her award Thursday night Browder was brief and humble, focusing her speech on the efforts of all the local farmers and artisans who have contributed to the success of the Riverhead Farmers’ Market.

“Everything we do is for the food community,” she said. “It is so nice to have all this support. This is such an honor.”

Other honorees in attendance included the Riverhead News-Review’s Person of the Year SWR football team, the news’ public servant of the year Carl James and The Suffolk Times’ Person of the Year Jeff Heidtmann
