The Long Island Wine Council held its annual reception for its members and its friends at Raphael in Peconic Thursday night.
“The purpose of this night is to say to all of you, ‘Thank you,’” Long Island Wine Council president Sal Diliberto told the crowd, which included vineyard owners, winemakers and representatives from various businesses in the local tourism industry.
Diliberto likened its members to a “flock of eagles,” a group with members that are largely independent of one another, but strengthen each other.
“As long as we help each other, we’ll stay together,” he said. “Well always keep this industry where it should be, which is on top.”
