The first thing you might notice upon entering this Mattituck dining spot is the ample selection of Long Island Wines along “wine wall.” And at $25 a bottle, the price is just right.
In this week’s edition of “What’s For Lunch?” we recommend CJ’s American Grill in Mattituck.
CJ’s offers 10 hearty lunch options, like a BLT and a pot roast sandwich, for $10 Monday through Friday until 4 p.m. While the fare offers a limited selection of items on the lighter side, this is tasty comfort food that will warm you up on a cold day.
We picked the veggie quiche, made with cheddar and swiss and served with small salad and a bowl of butternut squash soup ($10). The quiche had just the right amount of cheese-to-egg ratio and plenty of chunks of vegetables. The tasty soup was creamy and filling.
If you are feeling decadent, finish it off with a piece of upside down Duck Walk blueberry port cheesecake ($7). Don’t be too surprised if like me, you nearly finish the whole thing by yourself.
Full disclosure: CJ’s comped my meal, but I would stand by everything I said even if they had not.
If you haven’t been to this location since it was DoLittle’s Bar and Grill, you will be surprised to find the interior completely renovated with modern, clean decor. DoLittle’s closed in 2012.
Tucked away in the back of Mattituck Plaza, you might miss this hidden eatery, but it’s worth searching for. Cap off dinner with a movie at nearby Mattituck Cinemas for a North Fork date night.
CJ’s American Grill is located at 10095 Main Road in Mattituck.
