It was more than your average Halloween in downtown Riverhead yesterday, as the Edgar Allan Poe Festival kicked off on Main Street.
The three-day festival — which kicked off again at 11 a.m. today at the Long Island Aquarium — brought trick-or-treaters downtown starting in the late afternoon, followed by an Edgar Allan Poe Parade down Main Street.
Trick-or-treaters ranged from young to old, from scary to funny.
A pumpkin-carving contest, public readings of forgotten lore, and much more will be taking place downtown today and Sunday.
