Slacker cable access host Wayne Campbell parties on with Lieb Cellars chardonnay — at least according to a recent segment of the Today show.
This clip, which aired on Halloween, features talk show duo Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb in character as Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar of “Wayne’s World.” The grungy metal loving pair sample the Mattituck winery’s chardonnay keg for “Try Friday.””I found this keg of wine from the most excellent winery called Lieb Cellars,” Gifford dressed as Campbell in 90s-style torn jeans tells Kotb as the bespectacled Algar.
“They combined our two favorite things in one,” Kotb said, followed by an impression of Algar’s signature snicker.
“The color of this Bridge [Lane 2013 chardonnay] is a pale yellow with greenish undertones,” Kotb continues. “It reminds of Julie Andrews twirling on a hilltop in ‘The Sound of Music.’”
Never to miss an opportunity to abuse his friend, Gifford’s Campbell holds a sign that reads “sphincter boy” as Kotb describes the wine.
