Enjoy a scenic run along Riverhead’s downtown and help save cold-stunned sea turtles at the 17th annual Run for the Ridley.

The 5K race, which helps The Riverhead Foundation For Marine Research and Preservation aid sea turtles who have been affected by a quick change in water temperature, is open to all runners, joggers and walkers.

The course begins on East Main Street, travels through Riverhead’s residential streets and ends at McDermott Ave. near the Peconic Riverfront.

Registration before Oct. 18 is $17. Race day registration is $25.

The best part of the race? A steaming cup of Manhattan clam chowder is offered to all finishers, courtesy of Jerry and the Mermaid restaurant.
