There’s plenty of fun to be had hiding in the environment around us.

Group for the East End, Southold Mothers’ Club, and Lyrical Children are hosting their second annual family scavenger hunt Saturday, Oct. 25, at Downs Farm Preserve in Cutchogue.

“This is a family fun, friendly event that connects adults and children with music and nature,” said Missy Weiss of Group for the East End. “The scavenger hunt is centered around what’s native to Downs Farm Preserve.”

The event is geared towards all ages and features not only a scavenger hunt, but music lessons where kids can make their own instruments out of twigs and other organic items, Weiss said. It is being taught by volunteers from Lyrical Children.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the last scavenger hunt leaving at 1:30 p.m.

A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26, and a suggested donation of $5 per family is requested.

The organizations are asking families to register for the event by contacting Lisa at [email protected] or Missy at [email protected].
