In the mood for a shucking good time?

Every Wednesday throughout October, North Fork Oysters of Greenport will be hosting a happy hour with drink and eat specials featuring its Peconic Bay-grown oysters. 

“We had been closed on Wednesdays prior to this, but we figured we would do something to cater to our local crowd,” said Rosalie Rung, a co-founder of the oyster farm. “We’re adjusting our pricing to give those who have been shucking with us all summer long a good special.”

From 5 to 7 p.m. shellfish lovers can enjoy all they can shuck for just $20. For those interested in simply relaxing (or just staying clean), enjoy a draft Greenport Harbor selection and six oysters on the half shell; and if you’re just in it for the brew, Greenport Harbor selections will be just $5 a pint.

If you’re not sure how to shuck, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn.

“We always teach you how to shuck. We give everybody lessons, a few different ways they can get into their oysters,” she said. “But we also have someone shucking, so if they don’t feel like it, we’ve got them covered.”
