Provocative nude images by photographers Michael Edelson and Ann Brandeis will be on display at Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery in a series that highlights the human form and its vulnerability.
The exhibit, titled “Bare,” will be at the Cutchogue gallery from Sept. 6 through Oct. 12 and a portion of its proceeds will benefit The Retreat Domestic Violence Services.
“Both artists are exhibiting images that directly relate to responses of domestic abuse while revealing vulnerability and unprotected emotions, layered sentiments, exposed reactions of retreating into oneself and the renewal of inner strength,” Ferrone said in a statement.
“The Bedroom Has Its Secrets” series by noted photographer Michael Edelson is inspired by Edna St. Vincent Millay’s poem, “What Lips My Lips Have Kissed” and photographed at the former Greenport Victorian Lady bed and breakfast.
Brandeis says her work looks at the paths people take in their lives with a focus on nostalgia and memory.
The exhibit kicks off with a reception on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 6-8 p.m.with Waters Crest wines and light snacks.
Join the artists for a free gallery talk on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. Reservations are required.
The exhibit is sponsored by Abatelli Realty & Appraisal Services.
