Savor the rich, nuanced flavors of more than 60 merlots from around the world Saturday, Sept. 13, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the 25th annual Merlot Classic at Lenz Winery in Peconic.

At the event, guests ($50 for the general public; $25 for Lenz Winery subscribers) will get to sample merlot from stations representing five continents: North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia. Merlot from Lenz Winery and other East End wineries including Paumanok Vineyards in Aquebogue, Mattebella Vineyards in Southold and Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack will also be featured.

“It’s going to be a celebration of one of Long Islands best-known varietals,” Lenz Winery tasting room assistant Sean Tracy said. “It’s a style of wine that’s helped put Long Island on the map in terms of the internationally recognized winemaking community.”
