It’s been no secret for a while that the craft beer industry on Long Island — and more specifically, Riverhead and Southold — is one that’s on the rise.
In the past five years, four breweries — Greenport Harbor Brewing Co., Long Ireland Beer Company, Crooked Ladder Brewing Co., and Moustache Brewing Co. — have opened up shop in Riverhead and Southold Towns.
Beer Sessions Radio, a weekly podcast run out of New York City that focuses on craft beer, took notice recently, recording one episode out of Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.’s new Peconic location.
D.J. Swanson from GHBC, Greg Martin of Long Ireland, and Matt and Lauri Spitz from Moustache were all on the show, which is hosted by Jimmy Carbone, owner of Jimmy’s No. 43 in Manhattan.
The hour-long show focused on the breweries’ starts, their relationships with one another and the beer industry as a whole, goals for the future, and included a couple of tastings of some of their brews.
