Take a break this week and enjoy an Italian-influenced warm pressed sandwich and the quiet ambiance of Peconic Lane at Provisions & Ingredients in Peconic.
In this week’s edition of What’s for lunch? we recommend the Jersey Meets Parma, which we are told is the cafe’s most popular item.
Prosciutto di Parma, Jersey Girl colby and sundried tomatoes are served on a panini with a fresh pickle on the side ($10).
The cafe, which opened last year, is owned and operated by Raphael winemaker Anthony Nappa and his wife Sarah Evans Nappa. The eatery is adjacent to the Nappa’s cooperative-style tasting room, The Winemaker Studio.
Eat your lunch at the market’s counter or take it outside at one of the sidewalk bistro tables.
Small plates like assorted olives ($4) and peppadew pops (stuffed pickled peppers, $4) are available, as wells as cups of coffee and espresso. The wine, which includes vino sold under Nappa’s own label Anthony Nappa Wines, runs about $2 for a taste and $10 a glass.
“We do little things that compliment the wine tastings,” said Sarah Evans Nappa, a chef who runs the business with her winemaker husband. “And the food is all things Anthony and I enjoyed while growing up.”
Italian food lovers will also find the market shelves stocked with cured Italian meats, cheeses and imported pastas.
The cafe is open noon to 7 p.m. seven days a week through Labor Day. It is open Friday through Monday during the offseason.
Provisions & Ingredients is located at 2885 Peconic Lane in Peconic.
