Forget the hot dogs, cardboard pizza and stale nachos served at bowling alley birthday parties across the nation for years.

Smitty’s All American Grill, the newly rebranded restaurant at the All Star in Riverhead, will offer free-range fried chicken, pan-seared Scottish salmon and locally crafted beers on tap when it officially opens its doors this weekend.

The restaurant’s grand opening is set for July 18 through 20 and will feature specials like a burger and beer for $10, a children’s burger and soft drink for $5.99 and the chance to win free chicken wings for a year.

The 210-seat restaurant features an all-new menu and a bar with 24 beers on tap and 15 LED screens.

The new eatery concept was created by architect-designer Chris Smith, who has worked for Nobu in New York City and Benihana, and chef John Nordin, who has worked for star chefs Tom Colicchio and Todd English.

In addition to new food items, the restaurant’s facade was completely redone as well as the decor surrounding the wood-fire pizza oven.

Smitty’s appetizer menu includes prosciutto and melon ($11), warm portobello bruschetta ($10) and oatmeal stour braised mussels ($11). Available entrees includes wood-oven fried beef tenderloin with roasted fingerling potatoes, sautéed Swiss chard and béarnaise ($30), truffle meatloaf with wild mushroom gravy, mashed bliss potatoes and sautéed baby spinach ($16) and wild hake filet with applewood bacon, french lentils, broccoli rabe and banyuls gastrique ($20)

The All Star and Smitty’s All American Grill are located at 96 Main Road in Riverhead.
