An all-star lineup of “distinguished alumni” from The River Cafe in Brooklyn are teaming up next week to raise money for one of their own: renowned North Fork chef Gerry Hayden.
Collegues and past chefs from the cafe will host a barbecue tasting on July 16 to raise money for Hayden, the executive chef of The North Fork Table & Inn who is battling ALS.
Funds raised at the dinner will also go to raise awareness about Lou Gehrig’s disease. Tickets to the tasting cost $250 each.
The event — through the North Fork group “A Love Shared” — will feature alumni from the New York City cafe, as well as chefs like Joseph Realmuto of Nick & Toni’s in East Hampton.
Claudia Fleming, Hayden’s wife and the dessert chef at North Fork Table, is also a featured chef at the dinner.
Hayden — who was diagnosed with ALS in 2011 — has been a finalist in the James Beard Foundation awards for three straight years.
The barbecue event will be at The River Cafe’s garden and terrace in Brooklyn from 6 to 9 p.m. To purchase tickets to the tasting, click here or contact [email protected] for more information.
