Chocolate fondue is delicious on its own, but it tastes even better with your favorite glass of wine.
Get both by making a reservation at Vines & Hops in downtown Riverhead, where “Fondue & Wine Night” is held every Wednesday evening. The next event will be held on June 11.
For $25 a couple ($10 for each additional person) you’ll enjoy a pot of melted Belgian chocolate served alongside a platter of strawberries, pineapple and banana slices, angel food cake and marshmallows. The deal comes with a discounted price on two glasses of wine of your choice.
“There are other places that offer fondue but people have to travel up-island for it,” Vines & Hops co-owner Jeff McKay said. “We wanted to pair our wines with something different that no one really does in Riverhead, especially on Main Street.”
Launched last month, “Fondue & Wine Night” grows in popularity “each week,” McKay said. He plans to switch things up and offer cheese fondue in the fall and winter.
The deal is just one of the growing list of products and events the East Main Street shop, which opened last year, offers. Vines & Hops hosts Open Mic Night each Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and a comedy night featuring local talent Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m, McKay said. Live music is performed Saturday beginning at 9 p.m. Each event has free admission and musicians and comedians are encouraged to attend.
“People are welcome to come down and get exposure,” McKay said.
