Two baby female lambs are now clumsily following their mother around their pen at Harbes Family Farm’s Barnyard Adventure, the first babies born at the Mattituck farm this season.

The lambs were born last Monday, June 16 about 5 p.m., according to barnyard manager Josie Aprahamian. The pair, along with their mother Annie and father Rameo, are friendly and allow people to pet them.

A contest to name the newborns is underway. Participants can comment on the Harbes Family Farm Facebook page with their picks.

Aprahamian will choose two winners, one for each newborn, Sunday evening. Winners, who will be announced on Facebook Monday morning, will receive a free family pack admission (4 tickets) to Barnyard Adventure. Admission is regularly $12.95 and includes pig races, pedal carts and feeding or petting the animals.

If you can’t get enough of the babies, keep stopping by Harbes as four more pregnant sheep are nearing their due dates. Two dairy goats, four Nigerian dwarf goats, and rabbits are also expecting. Chicken eggs are incubating at the farmstand, giving some lucky guests the opportunity to see them hatch.

The Barnyard Adventure at Harbes Family Farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 715 Sound Ave. in Mattituck.
