We at northforker.com aren’t ashamed to admit our love for Briermere Farms chocolate chip cookie. (Credit: Vera Chinese)

Sure, visitors come from all over for a taste of Briermere Farms peach cherry pie and everyone knows the apple and pumpkin varieties are a must on the Thanksgiving table, but let’s not forget they also make a just about near perfect chocolate chip cookies.

A quick stop at the Sound Ave. farmstand and a $5 bill gets you a whole bag of fresh cookies, served with or without pecans, baked daily and without preservatives or pre-prepared ingredients. Made with only butter, brown and white sugar, baking soda, flour and chocolate chips, they are just about the cheapest and most convenient way around to get a quick hit of happiness (I had four hits of bliss during my drive home yesterday.)

Some might argue that the South Fork’s Tate’s Bake Shop makes the best cookie on the East End. We say the fact that Briermere cookies aren’t available at every deli and farmstand east of William Floyd Parkway only adds to their charm.

Get them at Briermere Farms, located at 4414 Sound Ave., Riverhead. 631-722-3931
