Tucked away in an old farmhouse on the Peconic River is this rustic downtown Riverhead eatery loved by locals and tourists alike.

Everything on the menu at Farm Country Kitchen, from the wraps and sandwiches to the salads and pastas, is a delight, but its the grilled paninis that keep us coming back to this hidden gem.

We suggest the Maria panini. Although the menu changes daily at the West Main Street hideaway, this melt makes a frequent appearance among the day’s offerings.

Grilled chicken, fried artichoke hearts, vine ripe tomatoes, melted mozzarella and fresh basil pesto are served on ciabatta bread with a side salad ($9.50). Served with a chocolate chip cookie on weekdays.

Farm Country Kitchen is located at 513 West Main Street in Riverhead. It’s worth the hunt.
