The Greenport Chowder Festival returns to Greenport Village on June 8 after a one-year hiatus of the popular event.

The event, sponsored by the East End Seaport Museum, will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 234 Carpenter St., in front of the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company in the Chase Bank parking lot.

The following restaurants will participate: Noah’s, First and South, Claudio’s Restaurant, The Frisky Oyster, Front Street Station, Salt, A Lure Chowder House & Oysteria, aMano, Petulant Wino, Vino n Vittles,The Rhumb Line, Six Three One, The Blue Inn, CJ’s American Grill, and San Simeon By the Sound.

Attendees can enjoy samples from all 15 local chefs and vote on their favorites. Beer from Greenport Harbor Brewing Company and root beer from Miss Lady Root Beer will also be available.

Tickets are $12.50 in advance, $17.50 at the door, but act fast. Organizers are expecting to sell out. Click here for tickets.

The seaport museum had previously cancelled the popular chowder contest, which was traditionally held during the annual Maritime Festival in September. It was replaced it with oyster-shucking to better reflect Greenport’s identity as an oystering community.
