It is National Hamburger Day and here on the North Fork we couldn’t think of a better place to indulge than Phil’s in Wading River.

The family-owned bar and restaurant features a full menu of delicious items, but their hamburgers are among the most popular, according to general manger Nancy Hough.

“We sell a lot of burgers,” she said. “They are just really good.”

Phil’s features six different 8 oz. burgers plus a turkey and veggie patty. The most popular on the menu are the restaurant’s World Series Burger, which is topped with chili, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato, and the Moon Burger, which is smothered in mushrooms and mozzarella.

Both of those burgers have been on the menu since day one, but their newly added Bacon Blue Burger — topped with crumbled blue cheese and bacon — has been climbing in popularity.

“It a newer item that just took off,” Ms. Hough said.

Celebrate National Hamburger day with a Bacon Blue or any of the burgers at Phil’s, located at 1856 Wading River Manor Road in Wading River. (map it)
