Why Splish Splash water park in Riverhead of course!
Model and television host Heidi Klum said she and her four kids love visiting Long Island’s only water park in an interview with her Project Runway co-star, Tim Gunn, in this month’s edition of Hamptons Magazine.
“I told [Project Runway judge] Nina [Garcia] and she said, ‘You can’t get me to Splish Splash; I can’t go and be in a bathing suit.’ And I said, ‘No, you have to go to Splish Splash.’ Now she loves it, and she sees how much my kids love it, too. It’s fun. Maybe you ought to come with my kids and me,” she said.
“My trouble is that I never have days off when we’re shooting,” Gunn replied.
“Well, that’s not good. See, you need to plan better. We might have to work on the schedule so you can come with my kids and me to Splish Splash,” she said.
However, Klum and Gunn refer to the spot, which we know is at the edge of the gateway to the North Fork, as the “Hamptons.”
The America’s Got Talent judge tweeted a pic of herself at the park in June 2012 and posted that she had a “Great day at Splish Splash.”
The North Fork also gets a mention in a Redbook magazine list of America’s top ten wine destinations. One Woman Wines and Sparkling Pointe Winery both get shout-outs, but the mag conflates the East End with the Gold Coast by making a misplaced “The Great Gatsby” reference (doh!)
