A new pavilion, perfect for quiet reflection, a yoga class or a photo opportunity, was unveiled at Lavender By the Bay lavender farm in East Marion on Tuesday.

Made of white oak and black cherry wood, the 15 foot tall open air pavilion serves as a focal point in the lavender field, said Serge Rozenbaum who owns the farm with his wife Susan.

“We thought it would be good to have someplace special to hang out, meditate or watch the bees,” he said. “I saw this and I said, ‘wow, that is special.’”

The structure took about a year from design to implementation, according to Ohio-based designer David Yashenchack who brought his team to the East End to erect the project.

The roof and tiled floor must still be installed, but Rozenbaum expects it to be ready by Memorial Day.

“I can see a lot of brides coming here to take pictures,” said project architect Angel Chorno of Southold.
