What’s for lunch: Salamanders on Front

We at northforker.com are continuing our crusade against sad desk lunches everywhere with this week’s installment of “What’s for Lunch.”

This week we recommend the “Famous & Fabulous” fried chicken from Salamanders on Front St. in Greenport.

Two pieces (your choice of dark or light meat) of brine-soaked and then pressure-cooked fried chicken, a piece of homemade cornbread, fries and purple cole slaw are served on a platter for $10.

The sign out front reads “The best fried chicken I ever tasted” and you won’t hear any arguments from us.

Salamanders, which also offers catering, takeout, a full bar and a gourmet market, is located at 38 Front Street, Greenport.
