More than 700 people packed the new, revamped North Fork Horseradish Festival Saturday at Hallockville Museum Farms in Riverhead.

In true festival fashion there was an endless choice of activities — shopping, tastings, live music and demonstrations. Among the most popular was the Bloody Mary contest, which drew out a handful of chefs from restaurants across the island, including First & South restaurant in Greenport and T.J. Finley’s in Bay Shore.

The turnout was better than expected, according to event organizer Nora Donnelly of Starfish Junction Production.

“The feedback has been awesome,” she said. “People keep saying that is it a unique and fun event. It is better that I could have imagined.”
