As the say in New Orleans: “”Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez.”

Marking the last night of indulgence before the start of Lent, Fat Tuesday is all about Creole comfort food and the Big Easy’s signature drink, the Hurricane.

Fortunately, you don’t have to buy a plane ticket to let the good times roll. The North Fork is celebrating with its own take on the festivities.

Here are three Mardi Gras themed events and menus to check out this week:

Skipper’s Restaurant & Lounge

4545 Route 25 Greenport (map it)

Skipper’s is bringing back the Big Easy in a big way, celebrating Fat Tuesday with an endless menu of New Orleans-style dinner specials like Louisiana BBQ baby back ribs, chicken & Andouille sausage, scallop Etoufee and much more.

Maple Tree Deli

820 W Main St, Riverhead (map it)

When it comes to comfort food on the North Fork, Maple Tree Deli tops the list. So for the ultimate day of indulgence, and the days leading up to it, the Riverhead eatery is offering hearty jambalaya, stew, Cajun salmon cakes, four types of po’ boy sandwiches and other southern-style treats.

The Riverhead Project

300 East Main Street, Riverhead (map it)

Head chef Lia Fallon is bringing a taste of the Big Easy to downtown Riverhead, serving up king cakes and plenty of other Creole bar menu items for The Riverhead Project’s annual Mardi Gras Bash Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
