If you’re in the restaurant business on the North Fork you don’t just know Gerry Hayden, you love him. So it’s easy to see why the food and wine industry here has been so quick to help the chef and owner of the North Fork Table and Inn in Southold in his battle with ALS.
The latest showing of support will take place Feb. 23 in the form of a fundraiser sponsored by Slow Food East End and hosted at the new Kontokosta Winery in Greenport.
The event, scheduled from 4:30-7 p.m., will celebrate Hayden’s exceptional culinary accomplishments and the proceeds of the benefit will provide for his quality of life care.
The fundraiser aims to pay homage to Hayden’s reputation as a chef long committed to nurturing our local, sustainable farm culture.

Tasting tickets include Kontokosta wine, Greenport Brewery beer, and savory hors d’oeuvres prepared by various local and talented chefs.
Tickets are $75 for Slow Food members and $100 per person for non-members. For those who live on the South Fork and don’t want to drive, Slow Food is also organizing a transportation bus.
