Tis the season for the sniffles.

Luckily, if you haven’t gotten yourself to a doctor yet, The Giving Room’s Paula DiDonato has a fix that will immediately clear your sinuses and give your immune system the boost it needs to fight what’s ailing you.

The Southold yoga studio’s new juice bar is featuring its very own concoction of anti-inflammatory feel good “medicine,” aptly named “The Flu Shot.”

A healthy mix of pineapple, ginger, garlic, honey, lemon and cayenne pepper, it is stronger than most traditionally juices and packs a powerful punch.

“It is a powerhouse of ingredients,” she said. “It has a lot of Vitamin C, which is what you need.”

The recipe for “The Flu Shot” is the product of researching foods’ effects of the body, Ms. DiDonato said. She developed the juice about a year ago as a way to help people suffering from colds, flus and other body aches the cold weather brings, she said. Originally she served it to friends and family in a shot glass, but began serving it in 16 oz. mason jars as its popularity grew at The Giving Room.

With all juices, it’s best to drink it as soon as it’s made. However the jar is good for about 24 hours after it’s blended, Ms. DiDonato said.

The Giving Room is located at 56215 Main Road in Southold.
