• ‘Small Works, Big Gifts,’ an exhibit and sale, opens Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery & Studio in Cutchogue. All the photographs on display are 12 inches by 14 inches or smaller and many are limited-edition works. The show will be on display through Jan. 12. Participating artists are Helmut Albrecht, Linda Alpern, Steve Berger, Carolyn Conrad, Tim Doubrava, Michael Edelson, Ms. Ferrone, Miranda Gatewood, Ray Germann, Jacques LeBlanc, Katherine Liepe-Levinson, Michael McLaughlin, Harold Naideau, Jim Sabiston, Steven Schreiber, Jeff Schultz, Jim Slezak, Meryl Spiegel, Mary Trentalange, Alex Vignoli and Diane Woodcheke.

The gallery will host a reception and holiday toast from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21.

• The first-ever art show at North Fork Community Theatre will feature paintings by Mattituck artist Patricia Feiler, which will be shown from Dec. 14 to May 1 at the Mattituck theater. The exhibit is titled “North Fork Stories in Light and Color.” Ms. Feiler said, “You may recognize some of the local landscapes that reflect the colorful seasons here on the North Fork. The farms and vineyards change with each day and there is a fresh new scene to paint.” A portion of proceeds from sales will be donated to the theater’s renovation campaign.

• Call for artists: Work is sought for East End Arts’ nonjuried, all media annual Members Show, which will be on view Jan. 24 to March 7 at the Riverhead gallery. The show’s theme is “The Muse.” Gallery director Jane Kirkwood said the muse is “the spirit that feels present when you create effortlessly and that seems to be missing when you are creatively ‘stuck.’ ” The umbrella theme for all 2014 exhibits is “The Creative Process.” All artists must be or become members of East End Arts. Participation is guaranteed to all entrants. Each may submit one work, with a maximum size of 14 inches wide and 65 inches high. For a prospectus, click here.
