Veterans Day is a time to honor all of those who have served in our military. Several ceremonies and celebrations are planned over the weekend to salute our veterans.
Saturday Nov. 9
1 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Veteran Appreciation at Long Island Science Center. Learn about scientific advancements made by veterans during wartime. Admission: $5; veterans and their families are free.
6 – 10 p.m.
Veterans Day celebration at Southold American Legion Post 803. Chicken dinner, music bay Sahara, cash bar. Tickets: $20 advance sales only.
Monday Nov. 11
9 a.m.
Veterans Day bagel breakfast at Suffolk County Historical Society.
11 a.m.
Veterans Day Ceremony at World War I monument on Suffolk County Historical grounds in Riverhead. Refreshments follow at American Legion Post on Hubbard Ave.
11 a.m.
Veterans Day Ceremony with Southold/Mattituck/Greenport NJROTC at Southold American Legion Post 803.
11 a.m.
Veterans Day Ceremony at Orient Yacht Club. Hosted by Southold Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. All veterans invited. Reception follows at Poquatuck Hall.
