There aren’t too many restaurants open 365 days a year on the North Fork.
But one old time Riverhead spot, can make that claim this year.
Tweed’s Restaurant and Buffalo Bar on Main Street in Riverhead is not only serving up its annual Thanksgiving meal this month, the restaurant will also be open on Christmas Day for the first time this year.
And the Thanksgiving feast will be served up by a man Tweed’s owner Ed Tuccio calls one of Riverhead’s most colorful figures.
“Duane Lewin is a great local character,” Mr. Tuccio said. “And he loves to do Thanksgiving.
“The stuffing, the turnips, the sweet potatoes and the way he cooks the turkey with chestnut stuffing, it goes on and on,” Mr. Tuccio said of the reasons you should sample the guest chef’s fare.
The price fixe Thanksgiving Dinner will be served from 1 to 9 p.m. for $29.95 per person. Call 208-3151 to reserve a seat. Mr. Tuccio said the restaurant usually fills up on Thanksgiving Day.
“Lot of people in Riverhead want a place for people to go [on the holiday],” Mr. Tuccio said. “It’s an old-Riverhead thing.”
